Name Searching

Comprehensive Name Search Reports

Everyone recognizes someone or something by their name. When incorporating a company, a good name is one that reflects your corporate identity, is memorable and meaningful. Is your corporate name distinct, or does it sound like or look like another name that could lead to confusion?

We dive deeper to bring you a Comprehensive Name Search Report that:

  • collects results from numerous databases
  • collects results for all jurisdictions, including Quebec
  • includes common law sources that show names in use
  • collects results on Domain Names
  • includes a summary report consolidating the most relevant names

Our Comprehensive Name Search Report checks your proposed name against multiple databases and in provinces that NUANS does not report on. You’ll get more information – and more protection for your clients.

NUANS and Provincial Reports

NUANS and Provincial Name Searches are required by various governments in order to incorporate a named corporation. Several provinces have adopted the NUANS (Federal, Alberta, Ontario, Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia, Northwest Territories).

We will help you determine the name report type required to meet the federal or provincial government requirements. These reports contain information on similar corporations, business names and trademarks. We will provide recommendations on possibly similar names or potentially confusing names, or potentially, names that are not unique or distinct enough.
